In this episode, guest speaker Breanna Safsten, introduces us to adverse childhood experiences otherwise known as ACES. She explains that the research shows that individuals who have had adverse childhood experiences are at greater risk for health problems as they become older. We also discuss how resiliency can help reduce the risk of health problems.
Nadine Burke Harris also gave a Ted talk on aces and how it affects health throughout our lives. You can watch her talk here: https://www.ted.com/talks/nadine_burke_harris_how_childhood_trauma_affects_health_across_a_lifetime?language=en
